1st Montessori Classroom is inaugurated at the Hogar del Niño

Last Wednesday the 27th of May 2015, the first Montessori Classroom was officially inaugurated at the Hogar del Niño, a project developed with the aim of encouraging comprehensive development of the children at the Hogar.

Convinced that early learning and quality in continuing education is the most effective way to eradicate the cycle of poverty in the Dominican Republic, the Dream Project as a non profit organization and a pioneer in the implementation of the Montessori method in the Dominican Republic, has in conjunction with the Patronato Benefico Oriental, launched the educational Montessori program at the Hogar del Niño for children between 3 and 6 years of age.

The Montessori method’s aim is to unlock the potential of every child in the performance of their self-development in a structured environment. This is created with the purpose of helping children get a comprehensive development to achieve a maximum degree on their abilities with practical activities in collaboration with an adult or teacher through free labor with specialized teaching materials.

The inauguration was attended by the founder of the Patronato Benéfico Oriental, Xiomara Menendez, the president of this non-profit organization, Xiomarita Menendez, as well by people who made this possible; Ruben Gonzalez along with representatives of the Dream Project in Punta Cana and other personalities and contributors of the project.

The Patronato Benéfico Oriental thanks the Dream Project for making this first Montessori Classroom a reality and an extraordinary opportunity to help our children develop their abilities and potential at a very early stage of their lives.
